Women’s Italian American Civic League will be rewarding 1 scholarship of $1,500.00. The deadline for the application is February 11, 2015.
Eligibility: An applicant must be of Italian ancestry and a 2015 high school graduate.
Criteria: The scholarship is awarded based on American Test (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) college entrance exams (40%), exceptional high school ability (40%) extracurricular (school, church, community service work related) involvement (20%). To be considered for this scholarship, the applicant must be admitted as a matriculated degree student by the applicant’s chosen institute of higher education.
1. Completed application form
2. Official transcript with a copy of ACT or SAT scores.
3. Outline of extracurricular activities.
4. Summary of future educational goals and why you are the best candidate for this scholarship.
5. A personal essay (maximum 300 words) describing your italian ancestry and how it has influenced your life.
a. Include the names of your Italian ancestors and approximately when they immigrated to the U.S. Include information about which part of Italy they immigrated from and their relationship to you.
b. Why you are the best candidate to receive the Women’s Italian-American Civic League Scholarship.
c. Optional: A list of family members or friends who are active in the Italian-American Civic League of Utah.
Award: The scholarship will be paid directly to the successful candidate.
Other Conditions: Upon scholarship acceptance the recipient is required to submit a photograph and short biography. Both items will be published in the All State Italian Day Book. Scholarships are awarded by both the Men’s and Women’s Italian-American Civic League’s. You are encouraged to apply for each chapter’s scholarship. However, one recipient MAY NOT receive both scholarships. The Scholarship Awards Committee selects the recipient.
